Festival T-shirts

1/29/2016

Official National High School Dance Festival T-shirts are available for pre-order HERE.

Question: Will festival t-shirts and other apparel still be available for purchase at festival?
Honest Answer: I don't know, my guess is probably in limited supply but there has not been any official information. So, I can't say for sure.

Note: YPAS has nothing to do with this form or the t-shirt sales. This link was provided to teachers and I am simply passing it along.

Festival Scholarships!!!

1/29/2016

For those attending the 2016 National High School Dance Festival. The list of scholarships has finally become available. The scholarship information, scholarship list and the scholarship application have been included below. Students interested in auditioning at the festival should review the list and return a completed and signed application form to Ms. Herndon by Feb. 5th. Absolutely no late applications will be accepted. Note that YPAS is only allowed to have up to 10 auditioning students. Slots will be filled by seniority, then first come first served.
  • Due the limited number of slots, students should only sign up to audition if there is a specific scholarship they are  interested in and would be able to accept if offered.
  • Other students wishing to audition just for "the experience" are welcome to do so but only if there are open unused slots. If you fall into this category, meaning there are either no scholarships you would or could accept but you still want the experience of a large audition, please attach a note indicating this to your application and you will be added if there are open slots. (You should also put at least one scholarship on the application just for the festival folks).
  • Per festival rules, 9th grade students are not allowed to audition.
  • Per festival request, only high intermediate and advanced students should audition. This will be a competitive, fast-paced and crowded audition. The experience can be counter-productive and overwhelming for beginning and intermediate students who attempt to audition. For many it is best to wait until they are at a more advanced skill level. If you are unsure of your level, please see Ms. Herndon or one of the other dance faculty for an honest assessment.

Changes to Schedule

1/8/2016

Many students are absent today, Friday, January 8, due to the change in security to level three. Because of this, we will only be rehearsing Les Sylphides during Red 4 today and will not stay after school to rehearse.  Instead, Les Sylphides spacing rehearsal will take place on Monday, January 11 after school from 2:30-4:30.  Please plan accordingly.  In addition, all sophomores will be having their regularly scheduled modern class during White 4 this Monday, January 11.  Their Dance History day has been moved to February 1.
