Mr. Cesler will be teaching the Body Conditioning class, the Ballet II class, the Ballet III class and will rotate between the Ballet I class and the Advanced Dance Technique class for Musical Theater majors. Cesler will help to coach Les Sylphides and will set a work for our May show at Lincoln Elementary School. He is also interested in starting an after school partnering class!
David Cesler, a native of Kentucky, gained his early professional experience in Southern
California working with the Long Beach Ballet, Ballet Pacifica, and the Los Angles Chamber Ballet, as well as guest performing with the Hawaii State Ballet, The Royal Ballet De Wallonie in Belgium, Ballet Arkansas, and the Sacramento Ballet.
While in California he danced featured roles at Disneyland, The Crystal Cathedral, and The Great American West Show and appeared on T.V. & film.
Cesler then danced three seasons with Oregon Ballet Theatre, touring the U.S. performing principal roles from Balanchine to Petipa.
He then moved to Las Vegas to perform in the world’s largest production show,
JUBILEE, at Bally’s hotel. While in Vegas he discovered the world of ‘adagio’ dancing, which combines ballet with powerful overhead lifting. He traveled the world on board cruise ships performing this exciting style of pas de deux.
Returning to Las Vegas to perform in the shows See the Music, Tropical Passions, and Ribbon of Life, he received the prestigious Golden Rainbow award for Best Duo. Mr. Cesler was then selected by famed choreographer Kenny Ortega to dance at the grand opening of the Wynn Hotel & Casino.
Cesler and his partner were Finalists in the World Ballroom Competition in Blackpool, England in the Theater Arts Division.
Returning to Kentucky, he completed his Bachelors in dance at Western Kentucky University and received his MFA in dance at Hollins University.
Mr. Cesler has taught dance through the Louisville Ballet Educational Outreach Program and as an independent instructor throughout JCPS, as well as instructing at the University of Kentucky. He recently choreographed a dance for Berea College and continues to perform.
Most excitedly, David has created the Kentucky Dance Theater which premiered last spring. KDT showcases the many forms of professional dance, highlighting the wide variety of dance genres within the state.
