Friday, December 7 is a Crimson Hour Day, and we will be on a modified schedule. You will still dismiss for touring at 12:45 p.m. Your teachers have already been notified that you will be leaving third block early.
If you have not already submitted your November fee of $185, please do so as soon as possible. The December payment will be due on December 14. YPAS was able to contract with a cheaper nurse than originally budgeted for, therefore YPAS was able to lower this final payment to $135 instead of $185. Please submit $135 no later than December 14.
All Freshman Dance Major Parents: Please attend the Dance Concert Reception Committee Meeting on January 17 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the YPAS Annex, Room 14. The Dance Concert Reception will take place February 15-17. Freshman parents and students take the lead on this event and try to create a festive environment for the upperclassmen Dance Concert. Come and help plan this event!
Dance Festival Meeting: Students and Parents of Students attending the Regional High School Dance Festival, please attend this informative meeting on January 17 from 7:00-7:30 p.m. in Annex, Room 14. Students under 18 should bring their student ID's with them. Students over 18 should bring their drivers licenses with them.
We will rehearse from 2:30-3:30 in the Annex 2 studio. Please bring multiple costume ideas, including the following items in greys, charcoals, yellows and golds with an occasional blue or green:
Graphic and Youthful T-shirts
Button Down Shirts
All items should be youthful and casual and should allow for full movement.
Please join us this Wednesday, November 28 for a NHSDA meeting from 2:30-3:30. Meet in the Annex 1 studio.
Sign up for the Churchill Downs/Levy's opportunity by Friday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m. As mentioned in previous communication this is a fundraiser for the YPAS Dance Festival Group. Each Festival Family is strongly encouraged to do a minimum of 2 shifts. The more shifts we volunteer for - the less festival payments we will have. Per JCPS regulations monies earned by participating volunteers must go to total cost of trip.
Students may sign up- but we must have one adult (over 18) per every under 18 volunteer.
We must have 10 volunteers per shift with one shift lead.
All volunteers must come in dress code; Black slacks*, white collared shirt, black (Closed toe/non slip shoes), no jewelry and hair pulled back. (*no jeans/yoga/jeggins/leggins - must be khaki material or dress slacks).
Volunteer shift is 3 pm - 9 pm.
15 Minute online training must be done prior to working on your home pc/laptop.
This will be a fun opportunity for students and families and a great way to cut the cost of Festival down!
Looking forward to seeing everyone at the track!
The Festival group earned $400 for working the Halloween event at the Water Tower! Let's raise more money for festival.
Attention Sophomores and Juniors: Sign up to record your audition video for the Governor's School for the Arts Summer Program
Students planning on auditioning for GSA will need to plan well in advance. Students must record two videos and submit other items as well. Though the GSA audition process does require planning and preparation, if chosen, it is a free, high-end summer program. Students who have attended in the past have had extremely positive experiences.. Please see the link to the audition requirements here:
YPAS is providing opportunities for students to record these videos. Students can sign up to record their videos on December 14 or December 17. The sign up sheet to reserve space will be posted on the bulletin board outside of the Annex 1 studio. Students will need to prepare their videos based upon the requirements listed on the GSA website. Once you have signed up, please have someone available to record your video and play music for you as needed.
The Dance Department is looking for Gift Card donations to be used in a silent auction that will take place during Legally Blonde performances. Please drop off any donations to the YPAS main office care of Ms. Ruttan by Monday, November 12.
Please arrive at 4:00 today, Wednesday, October 24, dressed in costume and check in as YPAS students with Barbara Crow. Please meet her at the top of the steps to the Gatehouse (the building that looks like a large castle).
See attached web page with location details.
Feel free to bring any other YPAS Dance Majors that can make it last minute!
Have a great time- thank you for representing YPAS!
Louisville Water Co is hosting a trick or treat event at crescent hill on Wednesday from 4:30-7:30. If we can get a few dancers to come in costume and greet children we can make $300-400 as a festival group.
Interested participants, please email Dawn Nelms at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will take volunteers on a first come first served basis.
